Extreme athletes Thomas Wenning and Claudia Weber will be running again for *Stars of Tomorrow e. V.
Once again they will run for a good cause, this time in May from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, pursuing the idea of a bridge between host nations of the World Cup. The two extreme athletes will cover the distance of approximately 800 kilometers at a run in 8 days and once again gather donations to benefit the Stars of Tomorrow e. V. initiative.
The starting gun is scheduled to fire in Port Elizabeth (at the stadium) on May 9, and the destination is Cape Town. Thomas and Claudia are expected to arrive on May 17 (at the stadium or as an option in Stellenbosch).
The two athletes’ previous major media-friendly running project was the “Starlauf” for *Stars of Tomorrow. They started at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin in August of 2008, sent off by German national team member Arne Friedrich, and arrived 9 days and over 750 kilometers later on the field of Munich’s Allianz Arena with 65,000 spectators ten minutes before the start of the national league game between Bayern München and Hertha BSC.
The two had already attracted attention for their unusual running projects in preceding years. In 2008 they ran from Munich to Klagenfurt for the first game played by the German national football team, and also ran completely around the resort island of Mallorca in a record period of time. In 2007 they raised over 30,000 euros in donations for their “Marathon without Borders” project.
