Thomas DarchingerThomas Darchinger

The German actor Thomas Darchinger is the first male ambassador who has come on board with *stars of tomorrow.
Well known from various film and television productions such as "Die Löwengrube" (which received the Grimme Prize), "Tatort", "Rosa Roth", and the war epic "Joy Division", Darchinger has already used his popularity to support a number of different aid projects and charitable causes in the past.

A UNICEF representative as well as a music enthusiast, Darchinger launched the initiative "Helping Bands" in response to the catastrophic tsunami in Southeast Asia. Together with bands such as "Sportfreunde Stiller", "Die Sterne", and "The Notwist", he produced a CD whose revenues benefited the victims of the tsunami. He then organized another compilation to support a school project in Africa.

On doing film work Kenya, Thomas Darchinger's interest in the forgotten continent was awakened. "Kenya is a fascinating country," he notes. "The Kenyans are wonderful, proud people, without arrogance, very friendly and clear-sighted. At the same time, they are so marked by horrible hardships such as the AIDS epidemic, which affects nearly 40% of the population."

The actor has a consuming passion for everything to do with football. During the 2006 Football World Cup, he even toured Germany with his own World Cup show ("Wir Elf" – or "We Eleven").
At the recent meeting of partners and sponsors of "stars of tomorrow e.V., Darchinger said that "my affinity for football and my desire to help the African continent led me to *stars of tomorrow – it is the perfect fit."

Arne FriedrichArne Friedrich

Arne Friedrich, a member of the German national football team, is the first sports ambassador for *stars of tomorrow. A crucial factor in his motivation for joining the project was that he can completely and totally identify with the aid projects in Soshanguve.
"I want to use my joy and passion for football to help children in South Africa," said Friedrich. "The next Football World Cup will take place in a country where many children need our help beyond the football festivities at major stadiums. For me and for *stars of tomorrow, these children are the real stars of the future," added the national player at a press conference to announce his commitment held at the FC Magnet bar in the Mitte district of Berlin on 29 November 2007.

Arne Friedrich spent most of his free time in his childhood and youth pursuing his passion for football. After training as an industrial clerk and completing his civil service in 2000, Friedrich made his hobby into his profession. He began his career as a professional football player for Arminia Bielefeld. After two years at Arminia, he received an offer from Berlin's Hertha BSC, where he has now played for five years with the number 3 on his uniform. In 2000-2002, he was nominated for the "U21" ("under 21") German national team, which was preparing young players for the 2006 World Cup at the time. Since 2002, Friedrich has played on the national team as a right-side defender, including in the 2006 Football World Cup. In addition to the team's third-place finish at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, his greatest successes include third place at the 2005 Confederations Cup and the 2002 league title with Hertha BSC.

Arne Friedrich applies his motto of "Passion makes you better at just about everything" not only to football. In addition to his work with *stars of tomorrow, he also assists other social projects such as a campaign against cystic fibrosis and an aid project in Rwanda.

The *stars of tomorrow team is especially pleased to have Arne Friedrich on our team!

Ruth MoschnerRuth Moschner

Known as the presenter of infotainment programms at ZDF and private channels such as RTL, Ruth Moschner was willing to function as a famous ambassador for *stars of tomorrow. In the beginning of 2006, she has visited a Township in South Africa where she gathered detailed information about the situation on site. She hopes it will be a first step forward to give the people there new perspectives through education and regular jobs.
As a real football-fan, she explained her support for *stars of tomorrow at the first press conference among others with the possibilities of sports to tear down linguistic or any other frontiers. “Therefore, this project” said Ruth Moschner about *stars of tomorrow, “is a wonderful way to spread important messages”.

Harald PignatelliHarald Pignatelli

Harald Pignatelli, a host of the ARD early evening television program, has been delighting spectators and critics alike since the mid-1990s. He is especially loved for his open and empathetic way of interacting with guests. He can look back at a very enjoyable history of shows with a wide range of directors and prominent guests.
His work is characterized by both ease and dependability, which in turn make him a powerful performer. Whether at country marketplaces in the state of Brandenburg or on a red carpet in Berlin, Harald knows just what to do. For "zibb", a human interest program on the rbb Berlin-Brandenburg station, he speaks with stars large and small from the worlds of film, art and culture. His approach is always to make guests feel at home, which encourages them to be forthcoming and sometimes reveal the unexpected.
When not on the job, Harald attends the Cannes film festival in May, seeks out the peaceful solitude of his Alpine cabin in December, and otherwise travels the world from Canada to Australia.
Harald Pignatelli pursues his life's calling with talent and sure instincts, for he discovered the power of a smile back as a child. For over four years now, he has been putting his very special charms at the service of two non-profit organizations.

Harald's interest in sports and his commitment to children's welfare are only two reasons why he is supporting *stars of tomorrow. As he puts it, children are our future, and need special support. With his commitment to *stars of tomorrow, he wants to build a bridge between the continents and to raise public awareness for the living conditions of children in South Africa.

Katharina SchwarzKatharina Schwarz

*stars of tomorrow is especially pleased to count actress and television host Katharina Schwarz among its ambassadors.

In addition to her acting and hosting activities for the television stations ZDF, tm3, Sat1 and Viva (including the programs "Film Ab", "X-Base", "Club-House", "Soko", and "Der Bulle von Tölz"), Katharina Schwarz places a high priority on social responsibility. For example, she has made documentaries, musicals and hip-hop videos with young immigrants in the criminal justice system. She is excited about not only the main idea behind *stars of tomorrow, but also about the transparency and sustainability of the individual projects. As she explains, "When Thomas Darchinger told me about *stars of tomorrow, I immediately liked the project because I had the feeling that these people really want to help children in South Africa and know what they're talking about." That's also why she was willing to host *stars of tomorrow activities at the Rheinkultur Festival in July 2007 and thus help create a public forum to draw attention to the problems faced by the *stars in South Africa.
